So, what have we been up to?!

You’ve probably been wondering what we’ve been up to since the Carolina Bridal Show. First off, the wedding show went great! So many wonderful vendors and brides came out to get a head start on the new year. We spoke with so many brides, grooms and their families about possible parties at either Bluewater or the Oceanic. With the show came tons of inquiries! Since then, we have booked a good amount of parties, including some pretty big wedding receptions.

So, you’re probably wondering how Bluewater’s second floor renovations are coming along. Well…they’re great! We’ve got a few surprises in store for future brides. While a lot of the renovations are cosmetic changes, we are certainly “opening” the space up a little more. Renovations are still on schedule and will be done by mid-March. If you or anyone you know is interested in seeing the final product, make sure to go ahead and schedule an appointment! We’re starting to fill up our planners with appointments to see the newly renovated space, so give us a call!

The perfect start to the new year and to your new engagement…The Carolina Bridal Show!

With the new year finally here, now is the time to start planning for your upcoming wedding! The holiday season brought quite a few new engagements, so what better way to start the planning process than attend this year’s Carolina Bridal Show?!

Next Sunday, January 15th, the Carolina Bridal Show will be held downtown at the Schwartz Center. As always, some wonderful vendors will be attending, so you don’t want to miss out! Bluewater and Oceanic will be well-represented with some amazing pictures, flyers and information regarding the perfect wedding reception, rehearsal dinner, bridal luncheon or any other type of party you can imagine!

We will be raffling off wonderful gift bags, inclusive of some amazing goodies. That doesn’t persuade you enough to come to the show? Well, we will also be handing out complimentary champagne, and maybe even some other small give-aways.

Several other wedding vendors will be in attendance. There will be floral companies, wedding planners, wedding venues, honeymoon travel guides, and so much more. This year’s event is sure to be a big hit, so you don’t want to miss it! Even if you’ve already booked some of these things for your wedding, this is the perfect place to knock the rest of it out.

A holiday full of cheer…and construction!

Starting at the end of November, Bluewater’s entry-way, Florida Room and downstairs bathrooms went under the knife (or chain saws and hammers in our case) for a full-on facelift. With a few minor tweaks to go, the whole downstairs is almost done with it’s renovation. So you’re probably wondering what’s next? Well, starting early January, the whole top floor of Bluewater will be under construction. But don’t worry! The restaurant will still be open for business downstairs.

We will be re-opening the upstairs of Bluewater in late March, just in time for some wonderful weddings. The catering department is still in full swing and are inquiries regarding all types of parties. Don’t hesitate to give us a call or send us an email. Also, drop in for some lunch or dinner at Bluewater to check out the new renovations downstairs. Let me just say…you won’t be disappointed with the new and improved restaurant.

And let’s not forget about the Oceanic! A year ago starting in January, the Oceanic started renovations of it’s own. Now, the updated restaurant is still packed with business and private parties. A toast to the brides!

Last Sunday we participated in the Cape Fear Wedding Show at the Convention Center downtown, and let’s just say…our booth was a hit! The day was filled with happy brides, great wedding vendors, a bridal fashion show and of course…champagne! Not only did we provide complimentary champagne at the show, but we also offered an incentive for brides to book by January 1st, 2012. Because of its popularity, we have decided to extend the incentive to all brides that were not able to make it to the wedding show. Here’s how it works-book any type of wedding function with Bluewater or the Oceanic by January 1st, and receive a complimentary champagne toast at your event for all of your guests. Who doesn’t love free champagne?! So don’t forget to book with us by January 1st.

At the show we had the opportunity to talk with several new wedding vendors, and some of our all time favorites. DJ Professionals provided the music and audio for the show, while Front Street Brewery promoted the beautiful Beam Room and gave away complimentary local beer tastings. The girls of Moxie Floral Designs and A Tent Event had great setups. It’s always great to see the guys from Baca Photography, Brick Street Cinema and Blueberry Fusion in the mix. And who can forget Babs McDance Dance Studio, who performed special wedding dances. Needless to say, it was a great turnout. Check out our booth below.

And the new trend is…

Over the past few months, we’ve really started to notice a new trend at weddings…a sweets bar! You can use candy, or even cookies for the bar. The sweets bar makes for a great picture, and is always a crowd favorite. It suits those candy-lovers who can’t go a day without some sort of sweet sensation. You can use different sized bowls, martini glasses, etc. By placing little scoopers in the bowls, it’s easier for guests to grab when they walk past. The sweets bar is a cheap and easy way to please your guests. And, by adding little baggies on the table, your guests can walk away with a sweet party favor! Weddings galore…and so much more!

This past weekend, Bluewater and Oceanic hosted a number of wedding parties. Bluewater hosted a bridal luncheon on Friday morning, and then an entire upstairs wedding reception on Saturday afternoon. The Oceanic hosted two wonderful rehearsal dinners on Friday evening on the third floor of the restaurant. All of our parties were flawless, and had one common theme – all of the floral arrangements for the parties at both restaurants were done by Bella Florals. Besides getting ready for some upcoming weddings and corporate parties, we have the Cape Fear Wedding Show next Sunday, October 30 at the Convention Center in downtown Wilmington.
